Students gathered in the Field Gym for a fun-filled afternoon of basketball musical chairs, three-legged obstacle courses, snowman-making competitions, and pie-ing faculty last Friday.
The pep rally united students for Friday night’s basketball games against Parker, complete with speeches from the captains of both varsity basketball teams. It culminated the festivities of Winter Carnival, where students had competed throughout the week to earn points for their grade.
At the pep rally, seniors were crowned the victors of Winter Carnival, awarding their grade reps the prize of pie-ing three teachers chosen by the senior class. The selected teachers, Upper School history teachers Ernesto Cruz and Debbie Linder and Upper School visual arts teacher Derek Haverland, had volunteered to participate earlier in the week.
Senior grade representative Aidyn Jones, who pied Mr. Cruz, said, “It was really weird, but it felt great in the best way.”
Unfortunately, the new addition to Winter Carnival came with casualties—senior Graham Snyder, who pied Ms. Linder, had a dramatic slip on the whip-cream-slicked floor, and the fallout also coated nearby equipment.
“My computer!” junior and Communications Chair Alex Stamos exclaimed.
