As senior year comes to a close for the Class of 2026, soon-to-be college freshmen walked the halls of Latin on Friday repping the schools where they will continue their academic journeys.
May 1, known as “National College Decision Day,” is the standardized deadline for most students to commit to their chosen college. Each year, Latin seniors proudly announce where they will attend and take photos with friends to celebrate.
“It felt absolutely electric to see the people I’ve known for 14-plus years,” senior Lauren Hanover said. “I feel like I can finally be proud of all the hard work I’ve put in over the past four years.”
The day highlights seniors’ accomplishments while also marking the approaching end of their high school experience.
“It’s a bittersweet feeling because I’ve been with these kids since I was very young, and now we are all parting ways,” senior Isadora Small said.
Although leaving high school behind can feel nerve-racking, it also gives seniors a chance to reflect on their time at Latin.
“It felt surreal because it felt like we were just taking the first-day-of-school photo,” senior Vivian Lee-Yee said. “It was really fun to celebrate, and I love how it's a Latin tradition. … I’ve seen so many other seniors do this every year, and now it's our turn.”
