In the Latin School Union election last Wednesday, union members reelected Upper School math teacher Chris van Benthuysen as Treasurer for a third term. Middle School librarian G Trupp and Lower School teacher Chris Gollmar received the most votes for the Secretary position and will face one another in a runoff on Tuesday.

The positions are each for a three-year term, with Secretary and Treasurer terms staggered from other executive board positions to ensure the full board is never replaced at the same time.

This election comes in the midst of an ongoing bargaining process between the LSU and the administration, about which LSU leaders feel optimistic.

“I think we are making some really good progress,” Latin language teacher and LSU President Elissabeth Legendre said. “We were able to come to some really good agreements in the last couple sessions.”

The next bargaining session is scheduled for this Wednesday, shortly after the runoff election.
