The Trekking the Dry Stone Path Project Week in Mallorca descended from the Tramuntana mountain range to the city of Palma on March 12, our final day on the island. We had spent the previous four days exploring the nature and beauty of Mallorca and staying in refugis—a hostel in the mountains—each night.
Upon our arrival in Palma, we drove to the Catedral-Basilica de Santa Maria, which features the eighth highest church nave in the world. We then received a tour of the building and discussed the history of its famous rose windows and other art in the cathedral.
Senior Graham Snyder said, “I really enjoyed learning about the designs on the walls of the cathedral and some of the artifacts that were important in Mallorca’s history.”
After the tour of the cathedral, we walked to a paella restaurant for lunch, our last meal as a group.
Junior Emmett Goldberg said, “I liked trying some traditional Spanish dishes, and I thought the meal was a great way to cap off an amazing trip.”
