The last day of the Fierce about Fitness: Bootcamp or Bust Project Week ended with a smoothie-making lesson from Handcut Foods employee Bethany.

After four days with Upper School science teacher Sarah Kutschke and Upper School history teacher Debbie Linder in which we took on a total of eight workout classes, we started our Friday in the Pit to discuss our goals for the final day and journal in our nutrition books.
“I felt very proud of the achievements from the whole week,” sophomore Coco Romano said. “I’m very grateful for the opportunities that I had from working out and learning [health] information from multiple sources.”
Next, we walked to Chicago Strength, where we met with a personal trainer to work on plyometrics, a high-energy and explosive workout to improve athletic performance. We then tackled a 12-minute As Many Reps Per Minute (AMRAP) workout centered around strength training.

When we returned to Latin, we ate a quick Cava lunch in the Learning Commons and listened to Living with Ashley, a Latin parent and health influencer, who taught us the importance of eating three healthy meals a day that include colorful fruits, vegetables, and proteins to fuel our bodies.
After that, student groups presented their research on current social media fitness trends. We discussed topics ranging from Ozempic to the importance of eggs in a healthy diet.
To close out our week, we met with Bethany to make custom smoothies of our choosing and give accolades and appreciations to our Project Week peers for their hard work.
