Saturday night, the streets of Chicago erupted in orange and blue as the Bears won the wild-card game against the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the NFL playoffs, advancing to the divisional round to play at home against the Los Angeles Rams.
For the first time since 2020, the Bears secured a spot in a playoff game, playing their third game this season against their biggest rival. Latin fans eagerly tuned in. Though the Bears eventually secured a win, the beginning was rocky, with the Bears down 21-3 at halftime, leaving fans anxiously awaiting a comeback.
“During the first three quarters of the game, I felt as if I was slowly bleeding out,” junior Gabi Raviv said. “Watching my beloved Bears let their magical season slip away was too painful to put into words.”
Thankfully for Gabi, his prayers for redemption were answered.
“But, when Cardiac Caleb completed that miraculous (but routine) 4th and 8 throw to Rome Odunze, I just knew the boys were gonna pull it off,” Gabi said. “The magic was alive.”
The Bears bounced back against long odds, winning the game 31-27 and sending ecstatic fans to celebrate throughout the city.
“The streets were electric,” junior Charlotte Flandina said. “Everyone was jumping around, screaming, and high-fiving people they didn’t know. Cars were driving by and honking, even cop cars. The city felt like a true community, and it was so fun to be a part of it.”
