“Never take anything for granted,” freshman Myles Antelis says.

This week’s Student of the Week is freshman, fashion designer, Forum writer, and fried-rice lover Myles Antelis!

Scarlet Gitelson (SG): What’s your favorite lunch served in the cafeteria?

Myles Antelis (MA): I like the hot fried rice lunch, like when it’s fried rice. I also really like the pasta. It’s always a go-to if the lines are too long.

SG: What’s your favorite place to hang out at school?

MA: I really like the locker bay, it just feels a little closed off, and it’s a great place to be able to be social.

SG: What would be your advice to a new student at Latin?

MA: I would say don’t be worried to make new friends and make sure to be social and try as many new things as you can.
SG: What are some of the new things you’ve tried this year?

MA: Well, I’ve tried writing for The Forum, which I’ve really enjoyed. I’ve joined a bunch of different clubs and have tried to be really involved in them. And I got offered a leadership position for Latin4Lurie.

SG: What’s a memory you wish you could hold onto forever?

MA: I would say cherishing school moments like the eighth-grade graduation. That’s something that was always super important to me because of how many people left, and it was a big transition in our life to high school.

SG: If you could do whatever you wanted for one day, what would it be, and why?

MA: Something I really would want to do is travel to New York, because that’s where I want to live when I’m older. I want to be a fashion designer and just experience every single thing and try everything and see what a day would be there, without parents, and what it would be like to live there as an adult.

SG: What’s interesting to you about fashion?

MA: I’ve been doing it since I was 7, so it’s just something that grabbed me and felt like a big part of my identity. It’s just been something that I feel makes me me, and I can’t imagine living my life without it.

SG: What’s an important lesson you’ve learned in your life?

MA: Never take anything for granted. Life always goes so quick, it’s like an ongoing circle. It always just keeps moving.

SG: What are you most proud of?

MA: I think I’m proud of how [I] evolved this year, trying more new stuff and not just sticking to my roots. [I] just try and experiment with everything. And that’s what I would [say], going back to the advice part. I’m proud of how I’ve managed schoolwork with friends and everything.
