Anderson Miller (AM)
Tennis season starts today—what are you most looking forward to this year?
Honestly, the bus rides, because they create camaraderie around the team. It’s just great to be a part of.
What has being part of the tennis team meant to you over the past four years?
I’ve really built a community with the people on the team. I feel like I’ve found a family in that group.
What class are you genuinely enjoying this year, and why?
I’m really enjoying AP Statistics. There’s a lot of fun that happens in the class, and it’s a very collaborative environment. I also have a great teacher, Ms. Neely, who’s helped me learn a lot about a subject I’ve become really fond of.
You’re hiking in Mallorca for Project Week with Ms. Neely next week. What made you want to be on that trip?
Freshman year, I went to Arizona with Ms. Neely to mountain bike, and I really liked that experience. I also heard great things from some of the tennis team about last year’s trip to Madeira, so I figured, why not? I put it down, and I got it.
What are you hoping to get out of that experience?
I’d love to just see nature. I’m a big nature guy and a big walking guy, so being able to experience that is really important and special to me.
What’s something about senior year that feels different from the rest of high school?
The ability to have fun and learn without as much pressure. I’m actually enjoying learning now.
When you look back at Latin, what one moment do you think you’ll remember most?
Probably senior year in general and getting into my dream college, Colgate. That allowed me to relax a bit, but instead of easing up, I think it actually helped me become a better student.
If someone followed you around for a day, what would they be most surprised by?
I’m a really social person. I like talking to people, so they’d probably be surprised by how many random conversations I end up having.
What’s a small thing that instantly makes your day better?
Seeing my friends in the hallways—like Anderson. He’s a great guy.
Who is one person you want to shout out for having helped you a lot this year?
I’d say Ms. Neely.
