Upper School students were not just untangling synthetic cobwebs and hanging neon green streamers for fun during community time. It was serious business: the Hallway Decorating Competition.
Initiated by Upper School Assistant Director Karen Horvath and brought to life by the student government, this creative tradition made its debut last Wednesday. Grade representatives chose the theme for their grades: freshmen took on a tropical theme; sophomores went about a Winter Wonderland look; juniors embraced their sporty sides; and seniors turned up the scare factor with a Haunted House theme.
The winners of the competition and the coveted pizza party were, to no surprise, the seniors.
“The goal of hallway decorating was to promote community building while engaging in friendly competition amongst grade levels,” Ms. Horvath said.
The competition was a welcome change to normal advisory activities and raised community camaraderie leading up to the festivities on Homecoming weekend.
“Everyone is all together on one floor doing something all at once instead of being in normal little pods, so I think we are all getting closer,” freshman Ophelia Sheridan said.
