The Forum Awards 2020

The+Forum+Awards+2020

Dear Romans,

Every year talented students write relevant, engaging, and thought-provoking pieces for The Forum. Thanks to the generosity of alumnus and former Editor-in-Chief of The Forum, Charlie Gofen, we are able to honor these students’ hard work and talent with our second annual Forum Awards!

The Forum Awards are $250 cash prizes awarded to writers who have demonstrated excellence in at least one of three categories: News or Feature Story Focused on a Local, National, or International Topic; News or Feature Story Focused on Latin; Personal Essay or Commentary. Along with the cash prize, recipients will receive a trophy and will be invited to an end of year celebration with the judges*, The Forum Editorial Board, and Mr. Gofen.

Any piece published between September 18, 2019 and May 1, 2020 is eligible for an award. Even if you’ve only written for The Forum once this year, your piece could be eligible!

To submit, please follow the following guidelines:

1. Send an email addressed to [email protected] with the “Forum Awards – [Full Name]” in the subject line.

2. In the email, list the name of the pieces(s) you are submitting and indicate which category you’d like them to be considered in. Please, also indicate the date it was published.

3. You may submit up to three pieces to be considered, however, you may submit to multiple categories. (You may submit more than one article for consideration in a single category as well.)

We encourage anyone who’s written for The Forum this year to submit to the Forum Awards. Winners will be announced in late May/early June. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the editors of The Forum or our faculty adviser, Mr. Tempone.

Best,

The Forum Editorial Board
