Varsity Girls Tennis Looks Strong Heading Into ISL Conf. Tourny

Brittany Kraff Staff Writer The team to beat? In the beginning of the girls tennis season, Coach Howard Carley never would have thought that he would hear that, but going into the ISL Conference Tournament on October 9th, Latin has been labeled as the team to beat. The Lady Romans have an overall record of 8-3, and are 6-1 in ISL league play. Last week, the girls played 3 matches in 5 days, beating Parker, Stagg, and North Shore Country Day. “All of the doubles teams are actually learning to play together better than ever before,” remarked Coach Carley. The first doubles team, Cam Arkin, and Victoria Lancaster, were formed a little late in the season, but even after their rocky start, they are now a true weapon for the team. All injuries and “colds” set aside, the team heads into this busy week with a full team on board. They already defeated Walther Lutheran yesterday, and face a tough match against Saint Ignatius tomorrow. Their sights are focused in on Saturday, however, when the girls will head to UHigh to play the ISL Conference Tournament.]]>
