Latin’s Board of Trustees has launched the search for a permanent Head of School to begin in July 2027. The committee—composed of nine Board members and chaired by trustee Noah Isackson ‘92—hopes to announce its selection early this fall. The permanent Head of School will step into the role after former Middle School Director Deb Sampey serves as interim for 2026-27.
Mr. Isackson described the appeal of the position, citing Latin’s educational excellence. “[Latin is] an outstanding school with a great community and an incredible alumni network who represent the students and the school so well,” he said.
The Search Committee will partner with search firm Isaacson, Miller (IM) to choose the best possible candidate from a nationwide pool. Chair of the Board of Trustees Dara Milner said, “We interviewed several search firms and felt that IM's approach, team, and process fit our needs the best. In addition, we talked with several boards that had used IM for their [Head of School] searches and felt very comfortable that our impressions matched their experiences.”
IM has already visited Latin to meet with Latin community members and solicit their feedback. “The search firm will use that input as they decide on what in particular the community is looking for,” Mr. Isackson said.
Other important resources in the search include a community-wide survey and an advisory committee composed of faculty, staff, and administrators. Each of these constituents provides vital feedback in the Board’s ultimate decision.
Mr. Isackson said, “You take those different opinions and then decide which ones are shared by a number of folks, which ones are shared by just a few, and so on.”
