MacKenzie Guynn First off, welcome to the first edition of Snacks with Mack. These reviews are solely based on my opinion, so if you disagree and think there is better pizza in the West Loop, PLEASE SHARE. I wanna know ALL the best places. With that being said, this week’s restaurant is Forno Rosso on Randolph. I discovered this restaurant because it was voted #1 Gluten Free Crust in America and half of my family is gluten-free. But, having eaten there several times, I can also say that it is some of the best Neapolitan (cheese) pizza I have ever eaten in Chicago. There is usually popular music on in the background, and you can sit right next to the wood fire oven, watching them toss the dough and make the pizza. They also have soda in glass bottles, and we all know that’s the best kind of soda. In the summer, or on any random warm day, they also have great outdoor seating. My favorite pizza is the Margherita, but that’s kind of boring, so I’ll tell you about the Carbonara pizza. It has mozzarella cheese, pancetta, and a fried egg in the middle. If this doesn’t sound up your alley, however, there are also plenty of pizzas, both white and red, that are delicious. The Tartufo is a great option if you want to try a white pizza. It has a delicate truffle sauce with a variety of mushrooms and some mozzarella. I highly recommend both. If you’re looking for something other than pizza, my expertise is more limited. The burrata, olives, and any salad they have are great to start. I have also heard that the calzones are quite tasty. All in all, Forno Rosso is a great place for a quiet night with family, a chill date night, or dinners with gluten-free friends! ]]>
