The varsity boys tennis team won four out of their six matches against University of Chicago Laboratory Schools last Thursday to progress to a season record of three wins and zero losses.

Latin entered the season ranked eighth in Illinois by Net Rankings IL, and have backed the formidable endorsement up with a hot start to their season. A key reason for the team’s high standing is their top singles players, senior captains Mark Tismensky and Kiyan Alsikafi.

Kiyan said, “This year we are favorites to make a deep run at state and win sectionals as well as the Independent School League (ISL). Mark and I are the top two players in our division, so hopefully that will lead to a really strong season.”

The Romans are chasing an undefeated record, their ninth sectional title, and 19th ISL title in a row, making their upcoming stretch of four matches on Friday and Saturday crucial.

Mark said, “We have a quad tournament coming up on Saturday against three schools in Lake Forest that I am looking forward to, and hopefully the team can continue our strong start.”
