The Make Your Escape Project Week—led by Upper School math teacher Chris van Benthuysen and Upper School Latin teacher Sarah Landis—explored escape room techniques to create our own space-themed escape room.

On Sunday and Monday we played a total of six escape rooms to compile ideas for our own puzzle techniques and immersive details. After completing each room, we discussed its strengths and weaknesses as a group.
On Tuesday, we mapped out the sequence of puzzles for our escape room to connect each piece of the game. We also planned our decorations.
Junior Kavina Aggarwal explained the rest of the week’s process. “We split up into two groups—puzzle and painting/construction—to start building our escape room,” she said. “Then we came together to physically construct everything.”
Students built the escape room from scratch, collaborating to find solutions, maintain durability, and organize an interactive room. As we return from break, we plan to make the escape room available for all community members to play in the teachers lounge during their free time.
Kavina said, “I think people should come play our escape room to witness our hard work and to have fun.”
