Bad Bunny Brings Latin Culture to Halftime
Robinson Florian, Benito Martínez

Bad Bunny (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) sang at the Super Bowl LX’s highly anticipated halftime show this past weekend, and made history as the first solo headliner to perform the entire show in Spanish. His production celebrated Puerto Rican and Latino culture with vibrant vocals and visuals.

Benito’s 13-minute performance highlighted his most famous tracks, opening with his 2022 hit “Tití Me Preguntó” from his album “Un Verano Sun Ti.” Complemented by bright colors and a stage surrounded by tall grass, his live set offered a refreshing dance break from the Super Bowl game.

“I loved all the symbolism he showed during his performance, and I am a big fan of his music,” junior Kavina Aggarwal said.

While singing “El Apagón” off of “Un Verano Sun Ti,” Benito climbed a tall electrical pole, symbolizing the power outages in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. Soon after, he ended his concert holding a football with the words “Together, we are America” etched into it.

While leaving the stadium, he named all of the countries in North and South America, with stage members waving flags of each respective country, singing the title track “DTMF” off his 2025 album “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.” Behind him, a screen with the message “The only thing more powerful than hate is love” lit up the arena.

Junior Eliza Goldhaber said, “I really liked [his performance.] I thought it was very uplifting and full of love in a time when we need to build community.”
