Boys Cross Country Takes Crown at Whitney Young Invite

Ethan Lee Co-Sports Editor With only two days rest, the Latin Romans Cross Country team ran their second meet at LaBagh Woods at a Whitney Young Invitational. Similar to last Wednesday, this meet was also a relay. The boys team placed first overall, in front of both Francis W. Parker and Walter Payton College Prep. Junior Tom Cox and Senior Nick Stender led the Romans at third place. Juniors Britt Henderson and Ethan Lee followed at fourth, and Junior Nick Mendia and Senior David Carlson placed tenth. The girl’s team placed fifth overall, with freshman Victoria Bianco and Junior Kara Bank leading the way. This race showed the Roman’s perseverance and dedication to the sport. Many athletes were puking and cramping-up left and right. Junior Tom Cox said, “It was crazy, but it worked out.” Due to this determination and will, a posing question lingers around the Cross Country Team. “Could this team be better than last years?” It can only be revealed in the meets to come. The next Latin Cross Country race is on Tuesday, September 7 at 4:15 at Niles West.]]>
