Freshman and varsity boys basketball player Liam Keogh earned the title of Athlete of the Week on Jan. 13 after having a significant impact in recent games and consistently putting in work during practice.
Basketball has long been a part of Liam’s life. His journey began when he was just 4 years old.
“My brother and I used to play every night when we were really young,” he said. “I was always tall, which was one reason I got into basketball, but my brother was still the main reason.”
Liam has trained with travel teams ever since, and his hard work recently paid off in a game against Ida Crown.
“During the Ida Crown game, in the first half, I was pretty slow, but before the half ended, I had a steal that led to a breakaway layup that gained momentum and built more confidence in my game,” he said. “That's when I started scoring.”
By the end of the game, he became the leading scorer, with 15 points and three blocks, securing a win for the Romans.
Beyond his personal achievements in basketball, Liam also enjoys spending time with his teammates. “I love all the people on the team,” he said. “I think the main reason I've done so well is because of the tight community that uplifts each other.”
As a freshman, he is focused on long-term development and growth throughout high school. “I want to get much better every year,” he said, “and my main [goal] is to have more confidence in my game.”
