Two open house sessions were held in the Upper School on Sunday, Oct. 26, for prospective students and families. The events, organized by Associate Director of Enrollment Management Rachel Jacobson, welcomed over 400 prospective families.
The open house featured student panels, mock classes with faculty, and a clubs and affinity fair. Eleannor Maajid, Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid, along with the rest of her department, worked hard to bring the open house together. “We really wanted to let families experience Latin in a different way,” Ms. Maajid said.
Ms. Maajid also highlighted Latin’s outreach efforts to encourage prospective families to attend the open house, including partnerships with schools such as Sacred Heart and Catherine Cook, as well as advertising via radio, Chicago Parent Magazine, and social media.
The two sessions were supported by 50 student and 15 faculty volunteers who together represented every US department. Senior Jack Zeiger, a Roman Ambassador recruitment chair, participated in the student panel and helped with the athletics table and the Math Department session. In recalling the value of his own positive experience at the open house when he was a middle schooler, Jack shared that he volunteered to “show prospective families what Latin can do for them.”
“I thought the student panel was really great,” Ms. Maajid said. “We had a great group of students who I thought represented many of the great things about Latin well.”
