For the first time, a Chicago Central Hockey Club game constituted part of Latin’s Homecoming sports weekend, playing on Sept. 28. They faced off against the Kings Hockey Club and lost 2-0.
The Chicago Central Hockey Club is composed of students from Latin, Whitney Young, St. Ignatius, U-High, Lincoln Park, DePaul, Jones, and Lane Tech. The game was fast-paced, with many opportunities for each team to score, but it was the Kings who ultimately scored goals in the second and third periods.
After this loss, the Central Hockey Club fell to a record of no wins, one loss, and one tie.
“We fought hard, but missing six key varsity players due to injuries really hurt us in this game,” senior and captain Charlie Yannias said.
The team was excited to play in front of friends and family. “It was really cool to see some familiar faces in the crowd,” Charlie said.
