Faculty members joined the junior class to defeat both the freshman and senior classes in a heated battle of tug of war during the Homecoming Pep Rally in the Field Gym on Friday.
The juniors were a powerhouse and defeated the seniors within seconds to secure their first win. In the championship game against the freshmen, however, there was more fight. The juniors started off powerfully and were inches away from winning, but the freshmen surged to even the match. Both teams struggled to pull ahead until faculty provided a literal hand.
With the help of Upper School history teachers Ernesto Cruz and Debbie Linder, the juniors gained strength. On the other side of the rope, 9th and 10th Grade Dean Lenny Goldman and Upper School computer science teacher Bobby Oommen joined the match to put the freshmen back in the game.
“[The freshmen] come back!” junior and Communications Prefect Alex Stamos said.
The freshmen were only centimeters away from victory when the juniors gave a last effort that caused the freshmen to lose grip with the floor, securing the juniors’ win.
“[Ernesto Cruz is] on the floor!” Alex said as the crowd went wild.
