Latin’s varsity girls field hockey team displayed power and stamina in a triumphant victory over longtime rival Francis Parker at Romans Fest during Homecoming weekend.
Junior Lilah Small opened the scoring early in the first quarter, followed by crucial goals from sophomore Fini Mendoza Peña and senior Teagan Moroney, which increased the team’s lead and energized the growing audience. Parker responded with its only goal of the match, but the Romans quickly regained control, scoring twice more and securing a 5-1 win.
The elated crowd of blue and orange cheered and the players celebrated their performance, followed by a ceremony commemorating the accomplishments of the seniors.
“I am really proud of the way that our Romans came out and played today. We got on the board early and were able to maintain pressure throughout the entire game,” Head Coach McKenzie Mick said. “All of our players played with energy, passion, and worked together as a unit.”
