The girls varsity swim team set a season-high score with a 116-44 victory over Trinity High School in their Homecoming meet at the Greg Baker Pool on Friday.
Putting the cherry on top of an extremely successful meet, the team took first place in 10 out of their 11 events. Senior and co-captain Sarina Weinberg delivered a remarkable race in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 7:07.49 to set a new season record for Latin’s team.
Sarina said, “I was really proud of all of the times that we were really close to another girl, and we just locked in. We knew it was Homecoming, we had that energy, and we were able to pull ahead.”
The swim team has its next meet on October 7 at 5 p.m. against Eisenhower High School. They hope to not just walk away with another win, but to show the same enthusiasm they had on Friday. Sophomore Sophia Brodsky said, “Everyone has such a great spirit, super good sportsmanship.”
