Latin’s varsity boys volleyball team fought but came up short in a match against Mount Carmel last Thursday.
The Romans got off to a tough start, losing the first set, but they remained focused.
One player who played well in the first set was senior and team captain Darien Ramirez, who had multiple digs and passes. “While we faced a few issues during the game, we showed the talent and hustle we have as a team, keeping up with a school like Mount Carmel, who is notoriously good,” Darien said.
The second set proved to be a nailbiter—the score was close throughout—but Mount Carmel was able to close out the match, winning the set 25-23.
After the tough loss, the varsity team still holds an impressive 4-3 record and has a bright future.
“I think that the team has shown incredible development with our decision making, consistency, and communication, which were some of the areas for improvement we faced towards the beginning of the season,” Darien said.
