Model Congress traveled to Boston on Thursday to participate in the Harvard Model Congress Conference that is taking place February 20-23. The Romans joined 96 other schools from across the country.
The club has expanded greatly since it first started going to the Harvard Model Congress Conference: from around 10 members to 26 students going this year. This is Model Congress’s second conference of the year, as they traveled to Princeton in December. At the conference, students will pass bills, debate in committees, and give speeches to help simulate the experience of being in the U.S. Congress.
Senior Danny Goodman strongly recommends joining Model Congress for anyone interested in rhetoric or government.
“It helps build public speaking skills, because sometimes you will be speaking in front of 100 people or so,” he said. “It’s just really great practice for what a real world job is going to look like. I’ve loved my experience with [Model Congress], and I think that anyone that buys into it will too.”
