This week, get to know junior, dog lover, and baseball player Noah Katz.
Scarlet Gitelson (SG): What do you think your best quality is?
Noah Katz (NK): My best quality, I think, is that I’m super caring, and sometimes I don’t show it, but I always care about people.
SG: What’s been the best moment of November so far?
NK: Last weekend, my brother came home from college and surprised me, and that was my best moment, because I hadn’t seen him in like, four-ish months, and so I was super excited to see him. I was having a bad week, and he brought it up. He brought my joy up a lot.
SG: Do you spend a lot of time with your brothers?
NK: Yeah. Whenever they’re home, I’m always hanging out with them. I would say they’re like my best friends. I spend every waking second with them when they’re home from college.
SG: What’s the best piece of advice they’ve ever given you?
NK: Do your own thing. Be your own person. Don’t listen to what other people say. Because we go to a school where opinions matter and don’t follow the crowd sometimes. Be your own person and you’ll be just fine doing it.
SG: What’s one time you think you didn’t follow the crowd on something?
NK: When I’m hanging out with my friends, sometimes they do things that I don’t necessarily think are things that people should be doing. So in those cases, I don’t follow them, and I either go home or don’t partake.
SG: What’s one hobby of yours that you think people wouldn’t expect you to have?
NK: I feel like a lot of people know I have a dog, but my hobby is putting my AirPods in, listening to a podcast or something, and walking my dog for an hour, just because it relaxes me, and I love my dog.
SG: What kind of dog?
NK: Golden Retriever.
SG: If you had to pick a room to have every class in, what would it be?
NK: My favorite classroom is probably 423, going with a bunch of windows and three projection boards. Because it’s super open, and there’s a lot of areas you can do work.
