Excited Latin seniors crowded the Senior Treat table in the Learning Commons on Friday, eager to collect their Class of 2025 sweatshirts. Several Latin parents volunteered to hand out sweatshirts to seniors the day before the Homecoming dance.
Bright orange letters on the sweatshirt read “Veni Vidi Vici,” Julius Caesar’s famous Latin phrase that translates to “I came, I saw, I conquered.”
The sweatshirt is a lighter blue than Latin’s typical navy color due to a mix-up during the purchasing process. As a result, the sweatshirts stand out from previous senior hoodies. Parent volunteers ensured no further mishaps, carefully going through the list of the senior class and matching the students with their preferred size.
The Senior Treat table was run in two shifts with four parents each, with the first from 11 a.m. to noon, and the second shift from noon to 1 p.m.. Although some students scrutinized the sweatshirts’ coloring error, many students celebrated the uniqueness of the sweatshirt.
Typically, senior treats are food items. This one was the first this school year to be clothing.
Senior Mel Butler said, “[The] food was good, but I was waiting for something to remember.”
