The varsity girls volleyball team started Homecoming on a strong foot, crushing the UChicago Laboratory School in straight sets.
Senior Emma Dumas started the game with a bang, serving the first point against Lab. The team’s defense led them to a 25-16 victory in the first set with amazing blocks from sophomore Hadja Barry.
In the beginning of the second set, junior Gisele Joswiak maintained a serving streak that filled the gym with adrenaline.
During the second set, the crowd fell silent as sophomore Lily Dumas served at 24-19. The disappointment as the ball hit the net was short-lived when, in a full-circle moment, Emma spiked the ball for the win, making the final score 25-20.
“The game was hype, the bench was hype, and most of all the crowd was hype,” Hadja said.
