For the first time ever, Latin and Parker will face off in a co-ed flag football game on Nov. 7, hosted by Student Government and Hope Squad to raise awareness for mental health.

The two schools have enjoyed long-time rivalries in sports ranging from from basketball to volleyball to soccer, and their matchups have been filled with high energy, packed crowds, and supportive fan bases from each school. This year’s flag football game adds a new twist to that tradition.

Senior Josh Solovy, the student who came up with the idea for the game, explained the inspiration behind it. “We wanted to involve both the Latin and Parker communities and channel the competitive spirits of both schools while supporting a great cause,” he said.

Just as Josh hoped, there has been a buzz about the game since the announcement hit.

Senior Charlie Yannias, a sports fanatic and member of the Latin flag football squad, shared his enthusiasm. “I’m gonna stiff-arm Max Satterfield in the chest and score the game winner,” he said, adding that he has been practicing his “reverse hurdle animation and touchdown cellys.”
