This week, meet freshman Estella Hoffman, a curious and creative student already making her mark at Latin.

Anderson Miller (AM)

What's your go-to order from the kiosk?

AM
EH

From the kiosk, I'd have to say a mocha latte.

Do you have a favorite spot in Chicago that you like to go to, either with your friends or family?

AM
EH

I really like going to the ledge by the lake, because it has a really nice view and is really pretty.

What classes have surprised you the most this year, and why?

AM
EH

I think history is very fast-paced, and I expected it to take more time on each subject, but it's quick-paced and takes around two weeks per subject.

If you could design a new club at Latin, what would it be?

AM
EH

Maybe one for making jewelry, because I feel like that would be really cool, and Ms. Kerrigan is looking into doing that.

Who is someone you've met at Latin that's made your year better?

AM
EH

Probably Eshaal Baber, definitely, and Camille Warnock-DeBaun because they’re both so nice, and I love them both so much.

What is something you're really excited about for the rest of high school or the rest of the freshman year?

AM
EH

I'm excited to take more classes. I really want to see if I can get into Nazi Mind next year.

What's one lesson you've learned so far at Latin that has stuck with you?

AM
EH

Always just try to understand people, because you don't know what they're struggling with.

What's one thing most people don't know about you?

AM
EH

Probably the fact that I'm a vegetarian.

What's the thing you've accomplished this year that you didn't think you could?

AM
EH

I thought math was going to be really, really hard this year, especially with homework, but as long as you stay on top of the work, it's a fun class, honestly.

If your life was a TV show, what would its title be?

AM
EH

“Chaotic”

If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?

AM
EH

I would want the ability to be able to look at something and instantly memorize it.
