After a month of spirited campaigning featuring posters, slogans, and promises, Upper School Student Government Executive Board election results were announced on Monday. The race began in earnest on April 16, demonstrated by campaign posters scattered throughout the building, followed by a tense debate on April 21, culminating in informative candidate speeches last Thursday.
“We’re proud of all the candidates for demonstrating leadership and sharing their vision for this community,” student government faculty advisor Lenny Goldman wrote in an email to the Upper School announcing the Executive Board winners for the 2025-26 school year.
New blood comes with fresh ideas, and Senior Prefect-Elect Ralu Nzelibe is ready to bring change.
“I really want to try and achieve my goal of making sure all students feel welcomed, especially new students,” he said.
Ralu will be joined by newly elected Junior Prefect Rohin Shah, Co-Curricular Chair Carla Di Silvestro, Communications Chair Alex Stamos, and the re-elected Social Chair Vivian Lee-Yee.
While Mr. Goldman will not be continuing his role as student government faculty advisor next year, Upper School history teacher Debbie Linder is ready to take on the position.
“I want to continue to be part of our community and help it become more inclusive,” she said.
As the newly elected team looks to take the reins, the Latin community can look forward to another memorable year.
Ralu said, “I want next year to be a great year for all of us, and all of us in student government are working very hard to facilitate that.”
