Although some Latin students showed up to school with quite literally anything but a backpack, Anything But A Backpack Day suffered from poor turnout on April 24. This dress-up day was a part of the Field Day Frenzy Spirit Week, which led up to the Field Day Frenzy sports games.

While some students brought suitcases, Tupperware containers, and even golf bags, most students chose not to participate, fearing the theme’s inconvenience outweighed the fun.

Social Prefect and junior Vivian Lee-Yee pointed out that some students might run into issues when trying to participate in Anything But A Backpack Day.

“I thought it was fun and different from what we’ve done before, but a lot of people including [myself] weren’t able to participate [because] I have to bring my backpack for sports,” she said.

Sophomore Jonah Kaufman forgot about Anything But A Backpack Day, but he mentioned that he would have participated if he had remembered.

“I just think that there has been a general lack of motivation for spirit lately,” he said.
