Latin Student-Athletes Take It to the Next Level

Eight senior athletes were celebrated during Signing Day on Thursday for their commitments to continue their athletic careers in college.

Upper and Middle School students packed the Field Gym to celebrate their peers. Each senior’s coach shared personal insights about the athlete’s contributions and experiences before the students signed their official commitments to their respective colleges.

The eight senior athletes are:

  • Sanya Arora — Harvey Mudd College, Lacrosse
  • Jackson Darke — Carleton College, Baseball
  • Ben Gibson — Cornell University, Cross Country & Track and Field
  • Kate Greene — Dartmouth College, Rowing
  • Mia Kotler — Johns Hopkins University, Cross Country & Track and Field
  • Carla McSweeney — Harvard University, Ice Hockey
  • Paul Silvani — Case Western Reserve University, Track & Field
  • Nate Weldon — Occidental College, Swimming

The ceremony highlighted not only their accomplishments throughout high school but also the resilience and dedication that has enabled their success.

Senior Jackson Darke said, “Honestly, freshman year I was not very good, and until this fall I got rejected by schools constantly. So I’m glad that I kept finding new ways to improve.”

He added, “What I am most proud of was how, despite a lot of setbacks, I stuck with baseball and continued to believe I had a chance.”
