Tough Game for Freshmen and JV Girl’s Volleyball

Mehr Singh Co-Sports Editor Freshmen and JV Girls Volleyball went out to Timothy Christian tonight. Both teams played aggressively and gave it all they had, but unfortunately both matches ended in a loss. The freshmen team had a good start to their first game with Bridget Cato, the setter on the team, playing aggressively at the net, helping the ball get over. Their first game ended with a score of 25-18, a loss for Latin. In the second game, the girls fought even harder, and with Jenna Green’s and Hannah Bishop’s serves were able to bring the team back in the game, allowing Latin to win the game 27-25.  In the third game with Olivia Schultz playing defense and making some great passes Latin was able to put up a strong fight. However, the game ended in a loss with Timothy Christian winning the game 25-19, and winning the match. The JV team went into their match with an aggressive mentality, and the freshmen on the team playing strong all around. Soon into the match the team realized they were facing a team of a different caliber to the previous teams they had played, therefore starting to work even harder on the court. Freshmen, Emily Salzmann helped to bring Latin back in the game by hitting the ground and digging some tough balls, as well as hitting at the net. Despite their strong effort, the first game ended in a upset for Latin, losing 25-8. When the second game came around sophomore and the lobero on the team, Maggie Nemoy, helped make some great plays with her passes from the back row. Freshmen Jen Costa was fast and strong at the net making some great hits that surprised the other team. The team was able to come back in the second game, but lost 25-10.]]>
