Meet The 2010-2011 Latin Junior and Senior Prefects

[/caption] Junior Prefect Kara Bank: I’m really excited about this upcoming year. We are planning a lot of fun things and trying to boost spirit around the school. One thing we’re doing now is playing music at assemblies, which wakes everyone up in the morning and is a fun way to start the day. Also, we have some ideas for games and competitions that I can’t reveal too much about, but will be a lot of fun. We’re also working with the administrations to edit policies regarding dress code, tardies, and detentions. We’ve got a great group of representatives this year, with amazing ideas, so I think it’s going to be a great year! Feel free to email me at [email protected] with any suggestions, and don’t forget, all student government meetings are open to anyone who wants to come! Senior Prefect Jeremy Porter: Being senior prefect is truly exhilarating! Despite some stress and pressure, I’m thrilled to represent and advocate for the student body. All of the representatives are extremely proactive. The junior prefect, Kara Bank, is my right hand (wo)man. She helps keep me grounded and on track. Seniors Jasmine Arrington and Mic Ordower have also been vital assistants to student government. This year, our focus is on bringing out the real school spirit in everyone and making Latin a more enjoyable place for all members of the community. We are working to modify policies regarding dress code and tardies. So far, with major help from Victoria Galarnyk, we’ve modified the tardy policy, but are working harder to make it less stringent (look out for details at Gathering). We are also trying to create and carry out fun activities to raise money so that we can establish an official student government budget. Any idea is a great idea so feel free to share by either emailing me at [email protected] or attending our meetings which are held every Tuesday morning at 7:30 on the 3rd floor, in the room closest to the elevator. I’m looking forward to a “crackin” (fantastic) year and I hope you are too!]]>

“Crackin” (fantastic): thanks for clearing that up. In all seriousness, though, I’m a fan of the new Forum.
