Romans Cross Country Run Hard In First Meet
September 2, 2010
Ethan Lee Co-Sports Editor The Latin Romans Cross Country Team started off their season at Elmwood Park High School. Overall, the varsity and junior varsity teams ran well. Senior Nick Stender and freshman phenom Victoria Bianco placed eighth in the varsity relays. Tom Cox and Kara Bank, Ethan Lee and Michaella Baker, and David Carlson and Lizzie Guynn, placed eleventh, thirteenth, and fourteenth respectively. While the Romans placed 3rd in the varsity meet, junior Nicholas Mendia placed 2nd in the JV two-mile run. Returning this year from a fantastic run to the IHSA State Tournament, the Romans are off to a good start. Junior Britt Henderson believes that the “meet (on Wednesday) forced the cross country team to persevere in a race against mighty opponents.” However, despite temptations to puke or stop running, the Romans ran well, convincing coach Dan Daly that this year “we have a solid team.” The next meet for the Romans is on Saturday at LaBagh Woods Forest Preserve.]]>
